Sudan violence: UN envoy Perthes resigns, warns of escalating conflict after air strike in Darfur

The UN’s envoy to Sudan has resigned. For months, he had been accused of bias by the local government after he denounced possible “crimes against humanity” in the country’s 5-month long conflict. Volker Perthes’s resignation comes as at least 40 civilians in the Darfur region were killed by an air raid that hit two markets. FRANCE 24’s regional correspondent in Nairobi, Olivia Bizot, tells us more.
