The UN’s envoy to Sudan has resigned. For months, he had been accused of bias by the local government after he denounced possible “crimes against humanity” in the country’s 5-month long conflict. Volker Perthes’s resignation comes as at least 40 civilians in the Darfur region were killed by an air raid that hit two markets.
