Welcome To Zamala Journalism Fellowship
The Zamala Journalism Fellowship is a fellowship established by the Facts Center for Journalism (SudanFacts) to promote journalism, and support others to build their capabilities in journalism. Through the Zamala Journalism Fellowship, we support young and aspiring journalists of Sudanese heritage to discover, develop and practice their skills, so that they can establish careers in journalism.
We believe that if we build capabilities in skilled, well-structured, ethical, high-quality, and investigative journalism, we can contribute to ensuring that Sudanese citizens have access to accurate and reliable information about local and national issues about Sudan.
Our goal is not only to build the capacity of young journalists to establish their own careers, but also to improve the state of journalism in Sudan. We expect that as journalism capabilities and expertise grow, the quality of reporting and information by local journalists will improve. This will facilitate more opportunities between local journalists and media outlets within and outside Sudan.
The Zamala Journalism Fellowship will competitively select 5 fellows to participate in the fellowship over a period of 6 months, during which we will provide training, mentorship, on-the-job experience and access to an extensive professional network.
If you value journalism, freedom of the press, and believe that the public has an important role to play in dialogue on peacebuilding and democracy in Sudan, please apply.
