The Egyptians have sent machinery to repair damaged roads so that much-needed aid can enter the Gaza Strip. Details of the deal are still being hammered out. Also, six months into the war in Sudan, civilians are bearing the brunt of the fighting. In West Darfur, members of the Masalit community have been fleeing to neighbouring Chad. And in Nigeria, doctors are being called back from retirement to compensate for the shortage of medical staff. An indefinite strike has been suspended, though negotiations between the government and unions are still ongoing.
