In 2022, South Africa was deemed the most unequal country in the world by the World Bank. The country currently holds the world’s highest unemployment rate at 33%, and nearly 60% among 15-24 years olds, though this figure is higher for black South Africans, who make up 81% of the population. White unemployment is at 9.2%.
