Somaliland’s first all-women basketball team are hoping to put their country on the map with their skills on the court. Heargeisa girls was founded in 2018 but already has a significant online following and their success has led to enough other female teams being created since to form a women’s league in the socially conservative country, where female participation in sport remains taboo for many.
